SALARY: $40,000 per annum
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Twelve Months
FLSA CATEGORY: Exempt
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Default Manager is primarily responsible for helping new and returning students to complete their academic program and repay their loans successfully. A person in this position is responsible for counseling students on matters of financial need, and providing necessary information regarding student financial assistance programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Interview, advise, and counsel students who apply for financial assistance, in a factual, courteous, and professional manner;
· Educate students on financial responsibility;
· Work in cooperation with staff to ensure optimal default prevention techniques are applied;
· Conduct financial aid presentations to new and returning students;
· Identify additional financial resources available to students based on data available in students' records and within college information system and adjust award packages as required;
· Comply with federal, state and college policies and procedures and keep current of changing regulations applicable to each program;
· Review student requests for additional borrowing beyond their basic financial assistance package, use professional judgment standards to make recommendation to the Director;
· Provide assistance with entrance and exit loan counseling, while focusing on repayment obligations;
· Focus on retention and student success by communicating and educating our students;
· Ensure that our students are borrowing responsibly and in communication with their loan servicers;
· Assume responsibility for monitoring, maintaining, and/or improving the college cohort default rates;
· Collect data needed for preparation of internal, state, and federal reports;
· Serve as liaison with lenders, servicers, guarantors and third party service provider to prevent delinquent borrowers from going into default;
· Perform other appropriate job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor's degree or higher or an appropriate equivalent combination of education and related experience may also meet the minimum requirement
· Experience with Title IV funding processes and/or knowledge of automated financial aid systems.
· Experience in the utilization of financial aid software and business applications such as Microsoft Office, NSLDS, and COD.
· Three years of progressive financial aid experience
